The NEA Expert Group on Comparison and Understanding of Dose Prognosis (EGDP) under the Working Party on Nuclear Emergency Matters held its second meeting on 11 March 2021.
The EGDP aims to facilitate collaboration among member countries in improving cross‑border co‑ordination through a common understanding of the outputs of dose projection codes, which influence the decisions on protective actions. The group's working methodology is based on an exercise, in which member countries will use the same source term for a given accident site, run their own dose prognosis code, and then compare their results.
During the March meeting, the expert group members made progress on the file format to be used by member countries while they run the exercise in the second half of 2021. They adopted the country fact sheet on dose prognosis in an emergency, completed the accident scenarios, and finalised the exercise specifications and comparison methods.
The EGDP has also updated its current mandate due to planning delays caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
