Since 1992, the Information System on Occupational Exposure (ISOE) has provided a forum for radiation protection professionals from nuclear licensees and national regulatory authorities worldwide. Jointly sponsored by the NEA and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the ISOE facilitates exchanges on dose reduction, operational experience and information to improve the optimisation of radiological protection at nuclear power plants.
The ISOE European Technology Center (ETC) organised a virtual symposium on 1-3 June 2021, with the technical support of the NEA. The three-day symposium brought together nearly 120 radiological protection experts from across the world. The participants discussed different aspects of radiological protection experience at nuclear power plants with presentations from Belgium, China, France, Japan, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
Key highlights of the discussion included EDF’s lens of the eye dose study, optimisation of radiological protection for maintenance work, the current radiological protection status at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, and emergency radiological protection arrangements at nuclear power plants. The symposium programme and presentations are available on the ISOE website.
Originally postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the in-person ISOE International Symposium is scheduled to take place on 21-23 June 2022.
