This Working Material documents progress made in the IAEA's initiative to preserve knowledge in the fast reactor domain.
In 2003/2004 a first focus of activity was concentrated on the preservation of knowledge related to the KNK-II experimental fast reactor in Karlsruhe, Germany. The urgency of this project was given by the impending physical destruction of the installation, including the office buildings. Important KNK-II documentation was brought to safety and preserved just in time.
The full texts of 264 technical and scientific documents describing research, development and operating experience gained with the KNK-II installation over a period of time from 1965 to 2002, extending through initial investigations, 17 years of rich operating experience, and final shutdown and decommissioning.
The document `fr_classification.pdf' describes the classification system used for the present collection of documents on the fast reactor KNK-II.
The present version contains in addition to the Archive prepared under the auspices of the IAEA also the power history from 23-08-1983 to 7-11-1987 and Measured values of the period 01-02-1990 to 29-11-1990.
Measured value include:
mass-flow in primary circuit
reactor Delta-T
thermal power
electric power
Ionisation chamber counts after scram
primary rod position
primary circuit temperatures
IHX temperatures
water mass-flow
steam generator water temperature, mass-flow, pressure, steam mass-flow, steam outlet
burnup
average temperatures for different positions
outlet temperatures for differen positions
Keywords: experimental reactor, experiments, fast reactors, irradiations power history, sodium cooled reactors.
