3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

The NEACRP benchmark specification for Burnup Credit Criticality Calculations aims at verifying whether simple models can be used to evaluate the criticality safety margin for spent fuel systems.
Phases I and I-A concern a simple PWR spent fuel cell and aims at a  preliminary survey of burnup credit where burnup, cooling time and fission products are taken as parameters.
Phase I-B aims at predicting the isotopic composition of the spent fuel and compare it against chemical assay data and results from different computer codes.
Phase II-A investigates the effect of an axial burnup profile as compared to a flat on (for in infinite fuel pin array).
Phase III-A investigates the burnup credit effect in a BWR. The assumption is irradiated to achieve a batch average exposure of 40 MWd/kg under a moderator void fraction of 70%. Distributions ar considered uniform.
